squeal like a pig!

Deliverance (1972): felt like a stanley kubrick film. seemed to have very little point to it. basically, don't go into uncharted woods and rivers. the role of burt reynolds is very overrated. i can see how it would freak people out back then. kinda freaked me out watching it all unfold, its just that there was no deep story to it all. the hillbillies and most of the acting was pretty believable, but just not enough to salvage the movie. don't see. and the dueling banjo alien guy. what's up with him?

La Vueve de Saint Pierre (2001): nice to throw a good foreign flick into the mix every now and then to spice things up. you just get a nice realism that you can't find in most hollywood movies. good period piece that has a wonderful mood throughout the movie. the characters are believable and you feel for each one, either through pity, hatred, love, etc. most english films can't even do this and this one hooked me even with subtitles. its very well done, but don't expect all the hoopla of your typical hollywood movie. its like a book. just some paper, ink, and a binding, yet filled with extraodinary things. see it.

The Game (1997): i've seen this before, but it was recently recommended to me that i watch it again since i had forgot most of it. not too many complaints about this one. its by the great david fincher which is always good. spoiler, so beware: i wonder about the end though. who in their right mind would put anyone through all of that because they love them. what a terrible way to show someone that! makes it a little unbelievable. and the fact that it would have cost millions to put on such an elaborate "game." did sean penn's character think he would be able to afford it all? wouldn't they have needed the money up front? what if michael douglas died in the middle of it all? who would they have gotten their money from? despite my nitpicking, an amazing movie and probably worth buying once i've gotten around to buying everything else i need.

so many movies i can't keep up with the reviews. this past week has consisted of me either watching movies, doing homework, sopranos, going to hollywood video, work, sleep, food, and maybe a shower or two. at any point of the day, you'll find me doing something from that list. did find time to go snowboarding on saturday with kim for the first time. she really wants to do it again so hopefully we'll be able to make it back up there. just got done with the golden globes. not too happy with some of the outcomes like the sopranos not winning a single globe!! what's up with that? i was freaking thrilled to see my girl natalie win one though. made my night!

on a side note, i'm really falling behind with my homework. american idol starts soon. no school tomorrow (thank you reverend king). joined some national honor fraternity society with annual dues just so i can puff up my resume and law school apps. can't remember what they are called. wanna coppa feela or something like that. and i'm finally watching a movie that i'm not sure if i can even make it through the whole thing. that's how bad it is. you'll soon know if i make it or not.

and as far as the whole jAx thing, i never did respond to her last comments a couple weeks back. i had a ton of good stuff i wanted to say to bring her down, but i just stopped caring. kind of funny because after all of this . . .
  • i'm a dick to kim
  • i should get a real job
  • i should get someone else to fetch my dinner
  • she hopes kim doesn't divorce my ass
  • she's an idiot to stay with me
  • i'm bad with the church
  • she doesn't want to be friends with kim or i any longer
  • kim is verbally abused and manipulated by me
  • school is an excuse for kim to support my lavish lifestyle
  • as a lawyer i won't be able to support kim (this makes no sense but whatever floats her boat)
. . . she emailed me the day of her last post and asked for an apology and said she thought her original apology would have sufficed. funny because i don't remember an original one, but then again i am getting pretty old. she wanted to call a truce and not leave on bad terms (not sure where either of us are going). maybe i am cold blooded (unity!!), but not really interested in a truce. i get apologies all the time from various people, some i'm willing to accept, some i'm not. just because someone apologizes, does not make things better. there are times when people can cross lines into a realm of unforgiveness (yes, i made up this word. sue me. soon i'll be a lawyer who makes no money, so please give me the work). sorry jAx, but for these reasons and the nicely bulleted comments above, i will decline your truce and will not accept your alleged apology. i hope you and kim remain friends cuz she really likes you. i don't think you deserve her as a friend, but that's just my opinion and don't worry, you aren't the first to not like my opinion. actually, i don't recall anybody ever liking my opinion. i hope to still see brian every now and then, but as for you, you are still welcome in the un-fan club.
